The high school № 21 by name J.A. Gagarin

-- is formed in 1948 as man's school. In 1954 the school has been integrated with female school. The school was located behind the basic building of the Tadjik state university. In 1976 school have transferred in a new building, sited on Lenin's prospectus behind hotel "Dushanbe". In an old building of school the Interschool industrial practice combine has been formed.

Now high school № 21 - one of not numerous schools in whom training in Russian is conducted. At school children from all areas of city are trained. At school training in the Tadjik language for children with 1 on 4 class also is conducted. After 4 classes these children study at other schools. Principal Afanaseva Valentine Pavlovna. In 1997 the school has been awarded with a rank " School of year ". In 2003 the school is awarded with 3 room apartment in honour of a victory over competition "The Teacher of year".
